The DDay in Normandy, a decisive event

It is in Normandy that played a decisive episode of the Second World War, the landing of June 6, 1944, also called D-Day. That day, early in the morning Allied soldiers landed on the beaches of Normandy during the largest amphibious operation in history.

Sword Beach, Juno Beach, Beach Gold, Utah Beach, Omaha Beach, these beaches whose code names have since passed to posterity, were the scene of intense fighting, prelude to the Battle of Normandy and the Liberation of France .

The first beach to be stormed during the D-Day was Sword Beach. Located between Ouistreham and Colleville-Montgomery, it represents most of what is today the coast of Caen la mer.
